Saturday Art Workshops for Adults

 1/25  5-Hour Painting Workshop with Rita Bond  

           10:00am - 3:00pm/  cost $100

               Supplies provided or bring your own

This is your opportunity to spend a day with local artist Rita Bond as she leads you through the creation of this beautiful beach scene. This workshop is perfect for beginners but all levels are welcome.

Saturday Art Workshops for Kids

2/8   Valentine's Day Craft/ decorate a wooden frame or box

          drop in between 11:00am - 3:00pm (must be accompanied by parent)

1/23      Creative Clocks with Cheryl Langin   $45

                Cheryl, owner of Arts Unique, will lead you through the making of                             your own creative clock.  All materials and refreshments included.


1/30    Paint Night with Catherine Elliott  $45

               Hit the beach in January with one of Simsbury's favorite artists.                                   Catherine will lead you through the painting of a summer shore                                   scene. All materials and wine/refreshments are included.


2/6    Wine Glass Painting with Alison Murphy  $45

               Alison will supply the instruction and materials that you will need to                         paint and take home two hand painted wine glasses.  All materials and                       wine/refreshments are included. 

2/20    Embracing Winter- Contemplation, Art, Poetry/Writing                     Workshop with Lori Racicot-Burrous  $45

                  Using contemplation, visualization, art, and short poetry/word exercises, artist Lori Racicot-Burrous will guide participants as they create unique mixed media artwork- using watercolor paper, inks, pens, gesso, various kinds of paper, teabags, stamps etc. and poetry/words.  Art and/or writing experience are not required.

All materials, dessert, and nonalcoholic beverages are included.

2/27    Paint Night with Deborah Leonard  $45


3/5  Palette Knife Techniques and Seascapes  $45 

         with Stephanie Molnar


Local artist, Stephanie Molnar, will teach us the technique of painting with            a PALETTE KNIFE as we create SEASIDE PAINTINGS on small                            ampersand boards.  Price includes, instruction, materials and                                        wine/refreshments.

3/12  Creative Clock Making with Cheryl Langin  $45

Gallery owner and artist Cheryl Langin will guide you through the process of making a creative clock using a variety of mixed media.  Price includes instruction, materials and wine/refreshments. 


3/19  Artist Assisted Open Studio with Cheryl Langin. $20/$40

1.Are you a budding artist who works independently but would benefit from some input from an art teacher? Cheryl Langin, owner and art teacher will provide any necessary input and guidance to assist you on your art journey.

Class Description:  Learn techniques and principles of painting in acrylic and/or oil in a relaxed setting in this small (max 8 persons) six-week course.  Topics that will be covered will include how to start a painting, composition, color mixing, brush and palette knife techniques, and others which Rita will demonstrate. We will paint one landscape, either from photos provided by the instructor or you may bring your own.  We will also do a still life from props provided by the instructor.  A supply list will be provided.

Instructor Bio:  Rita Bond is an award winning Connecticut artist, lecturer, landscape designer and Master Gardener. She holds a Master's Degree from Teachers College, Columbia and studied landscape design at The New York Botanical Garden. Rita studied drawing at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and later continued her art studies at the West Hartford Art League under Frank Federico, Ilona Levitz, William Simpson among others.  She has also studied with Eric Aho in Vermont and at the Cape Cod School of Art.

In 2009, Rita founded Simsbury Open Studios, an association of Simsbury artists that host open studio and educational events.  Rita is a member of numerous art associations and her works are in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Great Britain.
